Disciple des tsaddikim Mordechaï puis Noaḥ de Lyakhovichi (Lechowitz), il devint à la mort de ce dernier le rebbe des hassidim de Kobrin et des environs. Connu pour la véracité, l'humilité et la patience dans la souffrance, il refusait les jeûnes ascétiques et enseignait par maximes brèves et exemples. Sa cour donna naissance à la dynastie de Slonim.
