Né à Sfax (Tunisie) en 1949, benjamin d'une famille de six enfants de Juifs tunisiens, il grandit en France puis s'installe à Los Angeles en 1981. Il fonde BCBG Max Azria en 1989 et rachète la maison Hervé Léger en 1998. Intronisé au CFDA en 1998, il meurt à Houston en 2019.
