Rabbin de Turin au XVIIe siècle. L'Encyclopaedia Judaica le compte, avec son fils Daniel ben Joseph Calvo et avec Joseph ben Michael Ravenna, parmi les rabbins les plus importants de la communauté turinoise de ce siècle — celui où les Juifs de Turin, placés depuis 1561 sous la juridiction d'un « conservateur », fondent en 1662 la confrérie du Talmud Torah, avant que le ghetto ne leur soit imposé en 1680.
