Rabbin ashkénaze du XIXe s., d'abord à Dessau puis grand-rabbin de la communauté de Dantzig. Auteur du célèbre commentaire Tiferet Yisrael sur la Michna, étudié jusqu'à aujourd'hui. Il aurait laissé en manuscrit des gloses sur le Choulhan Aroukh et le Mishné Torah de Maïmonide, un traité sur l'ordre Taharot et des responsa.
