Né Isak Löbl Pulvermacher le 15 mars 1815 à Breslau dans une famille juive, formé à l'École technique de Vienne, installé à Londres vers 1850. Inventeur de la « chaîne hydro-électrique Pulvermacher », pile voltaïque à usage médical vendue par milliers en Europe et aux États-Unis. Mort à Hampstead (Londres) en 1884.
