Grand industriel iranien, il obtient la franchise de nombreuses marques américaines et européennes (General Electric, Volkswagen, Pepsi-Cola en 1955) et lance en octobre 1958 la première télévision privée d'Iran. Il fonde plus de 40 sociétés. Il quitte l'Iran avant la révolution de 1979 et meurt à Los Angeles en 1990.
