Homme d'affaires et philanthrope, président de la Société juive de Téhéran et chef symbolique de la communauté juive iranienne dans les années 1970. Il fonde en 1959 Plasco, plus grande usine de plastiques d'Iran, et dirige avec ses frères un conglomérat industriel. Condamné par un tribunal révolutionnaire islamique, il est fusillé le 9 mai 1979 — premier Juif exécuté par le nouveau régime, événement qui précipita l'exode de la majorité des Juifs d'Iran.
