Né à Téhéran en 1953, il est une figure connue de la communauté judéo-iranienne en exil à Los Angeles, militant et fondateur du site notoantisemitism.org qui documente en persan l'antisémitisme iranien. Son père Massood Haroonian dirigeait avant 1979 le comité de résolution des litiges de l'organisation juive centrale de Téhéran et présidait le conseil du centre Kheyrkhah (actuel hôpital Dr Sapir).
