Notable et lettré séfarade de Tripoli. Il réunit une vaste histoire des Juifs de Tripoli qui servit de source aux historiens ultérieurs (Abraham Hayyim Adadi, Mordechai Ha-Cohen, Nahum Slouschz) et composa des piyyutim et des kinot. Son ouvrage halakhique Hayyei Avraham fut publié à titre posthume à Livourne (1826) par son fils Rahamim ; d'autres écrits restent manuscrits.
