Le nom Benschouan — que l'on rencontre aussi sous les graphies Benchouan, Ben Chouan, Bencouane ou Benchoam selon les registres consulaires, communautaires et notariaux — est un patronyme juif du Maroc. Il appartient à un corpus onomastique que l'érudition moderne a patiemment recensé, depuis les travaux pionniers d'Abraham I. Laredo jusqu'aux catalogues généalogiques contemporains. Le nom circule aujourd'hui sur plusieurs continents — en France, en Israël, au Canada, dans les Amériques — porté par des descendants dispersés au fil des grandes migrations du XXe siècle.

En l'absence d'une notice généalogique préexistante et d'archives nominatives directement rattachables à cette lignée précise, ce Grand Livre ne prétend pas reconstituer une filiation continue et datée.
