Bring a loved one back to life
Their letters, their photographs, their voice — gathered, read, and restored to conversation
What remains of them is a shoebox. Letters folded in four, postcards from a port no one can place anymore, photographs where no one is named, sometimes a cassette where you hear laughter. These archival items scatter with each inheritance, and what they carried — a manner of speaking, a worry, a trade, a crossing — fades with the generation that still knew how to read them.
This page offers you to gather them in one place, which belongs only to you, to have them read one by one, then to speak with the person they speak of. The voice you will hear knows nothing but what you have shared: that is its limit, and that is what makes it honest.
How it works
You name them
Their name, your connection to them, the dates and places as the family kept them — even if approximate. Then what you know of them, and above all their way of speaking: that field is what makes the difference between a notice and a voice.
You give them their papers
Letters, photographs, postcards, documents, notebooks, recordings, videos, accounts that you write yourself. Each archival item can be read once: a letter is transcribed word for word, a photograph is described. This reading is what will nourish the exchange.
You speak with them
You ask the question you never asked. The answer rests on the archival items, it cites their detail — and when nothing answers, it says so instead of inventing. The conversation is kept: you can return to it in six months.
This folder exists only for you
A private folder requires an account: this is what guarantees that no one else — neither a member, nor the lineage, nor the collective — will have access to it. Creation takes a minute.

- Your file is PRIVATE, and it remains so. No other member, no one in your lineage, no one in the collective, no automated process has access to it. These archival items do not enter any Great Book and do not feed any public page.
- It is a reconstruction, never a resurrection. When questioned about this, the voice tells the truth: it is made from what you have gathered.
- Nothing is invented. No place, no date, no name, no episode that does not come from your archival items. When the file is silent, the voice is silent too — because an invented sentence would become a family memory that no one could ever undo.
- Only the deceased. We do not reconstruct the speech of the living: they can speak for themselves.
- You delete when you wish — an archival item, a conversation, the entire file. Nothing is kept against you.
If one of these archival items belongs to collective memory rather than to family memory alone, you can propose it to the corpus, item by item: it will go through editorial review, like any contribution. The narrative of a loved one has its own page — Testify about one of your loved ones.
