- Né à Salé en 5655 (1895), rabbi Michael Yissakhar Encaoua était le fils unique de rabbi Refael Encaoua, premier grand rabbin du Maroc, et le petit fils de rabbi Mordekhai Encaoua. Après la montée en Terre d'Israël de rabbi Chaoul Ibn Danan en 5724 (1964), il lui succéda comme chef des dayanim et président du tribunal rabbinique suprême, et fut la plus haute autorité rabbinique du Maroc jusqu'à sa mort en 5732 (1972). Sa hiloula est célébrée le 30 Chevat.
