"Auto-Émancipation! Avertissement d'un juif russe à ses frères" היא הפמפלט המייסד של ציוניזם פוליטי, פורסם בעילום שם בגרמנית בברלין בשנת 1882, שנה אחת אחרי הפוגרומים ההרסניים שאחרו לרצח הצאר Alexander II. Leon Pinsker, רופא יהודי מאודסה בעבר תומך בהטמעה, מנתח בו בהבהירות קלינית את ה״judéophobie״ כפסיכופתולוגיה לאומית — "demonopathy" תורשתית של עמים כלפי עם־פנטום ללא אטרוטוריה. המסקנה שלו קיצונית: רק רכישה של שטח לאומי משלה יכולה לפתור את השאלה היהודית. הטקסט הזה קדם ארבע עשרה שנים ל״State of the Jews" של Theodor Herzl והשראה ישירה את תנועת ה־Hovevei Tsion (Lovers of Zion), שפינסקר הפך לנשיאה.

Leon Pinsker analyzes "Judeophobia" as a national psychopathology and concludes that only the acquisition of a national territory can solve the Jewish question.
