Fondé en 1942 sous le nom d'Institute of Jewish Affairs, le JPR est un centre de recherche indépendant spécialisé dans les politiques affectant les communautés juives en Europe et dans le monde. Il produit des études démographiques, sociologiques et politiques de référence sur les Juifs de la diaspora. Ses rapports sont régulièrement cités par les gouvernements et organisations internationales. Il publie notamment les grandes enquêtes sur les populations juives européennes.
