❧ Description
Divan of Immanuel Francès (1618-1710), Italian poet, younger brother of Yaakov Francès — item appearing at number 93 of the Joseph Luzzatto Catalogue 1868, noted among the 12 most precious pieces of the collection. Together with the Divan of Yaakov Francès (no. 116), the Divan of Yehuda Halevi (no. 54) and the Tarshish of Moshé ibn Ezra (no. 98), it is one of the four Divans noted as the most precious of the holdings — testifying to the strong poetic coloring of Shadal's library.
