The Sumerian Flood Story is the oldest known version of the universal flood myth, of which the biblical version (Genesis 6–9) is the direct heir. The structural parallels with Genesis — divine warning, ark construction, universal destruction, post-diluvian sacrifice — are undeniable, but the theological differences are equally revealing.
