The Sefer HaIkkarim is the last great treatise of medieval Spanish Jewish philosophy. Joseph Albo reduces the foundations of Jewish faith to three principles — God's existence, divine revelation, and retribution — as opposed to Maimonides' thirteen articles of faith. Composed in the turbulent context of the Disputation of Tortosa (1413–1414).
