The piyyutim of Yannai constitute the oldest identifiable corpus of Hebrew liturgical poetry. Rediscovered through Cairo Genizah fragments in the 20th century, they offer a unique testimony to Jewish spirituality and liturgy in Byzantine-era Palestine.
