❧ Description
MS. Hunt. 559 (= Neubauer 1258) is a composite Sephardic collection of the late fifteenth century (314+ folios, Sephardic script, dating 1476-1500, origin mainly Spain). Folios 305-314 form a distinct unit of probably Provençal origin, where the Aln'kaoua section is located: item 2 of the collection (Neubauer 1258,2), corresponding to the Sha’ar Kevod Adonai of Ephraïm Aln'kaoua. The concordance MS. Hunt. 559 = Neubauer 1258 is attested by Table I of the Neubauer catalogue of 1886 and confirmed by the IIIF Biblissima notice; the identification of the Aln'kaoua section is confirmed by the Beit-Arié & May supplement (1994).
Provenance: 1 Composite Sephardic collection compiled late 15th century (Spain for the main part, probable Provence for ff. 305-314) 2 Robert Huntington collection (1671-1681) 3 Bodleian Library, since 1693
