Homme intègre et craignant Dieu, il comptait parmi les notables et les riches d'Erfoud. Grand marchand de céréales possédant des réserves de blé et d'orge, il consulta le Baba Sali lorsque de fortes pluies, un jour de Pessah, firent fermenter ses grains : le maître ordonna de tout brûler comme du hametz, ce qui fut fait durant hol ha-moëd. La tradition rapporte aussi son échange avec le Baba Sali au sujet du soutien à apporter à Rabbi Moshé Tourjeman, à la manière de Yissakhar et Zevouloun.
