History register · custodian, not owner
Third son of Jacob and Leah, ancestor of the priestly tribe. His descendants, the Levites, would be consecrated to the service of the Temple. Moses and Aaron are his great-grandsons. The tribe of Levi received no territory but Levitical cities (Numbers 35).
