Childbirth chamber plaque (kimpet) printed in Central Europe

A sheet posted on the walls of the lying-in chamber to protect the mother and child during the days following birth. The text combines Psalm 121, names of angels, and a formula to ward off Lilith, often within an engraved frame. Produced in large numbers by Jewish printers, these inexpensive sheets replaced costly manuscript amulets.
