Principal orchestre symphonique d'Israël, fondé en 1936 sous le nom de Palestine Symphony Orchestra par le violoniste Bronisław Huberman, qui sauva ainsi de nombreux musiciens juifs chassés des orchestres européens. Son concert inaugural, à Tel-Aviv le 26 décembre 1936, fut dirigé par Arturo Toscanini. Il prit son nom actuel en 1948.
