Uman, a city in central Ukraine, is the main pilgrimage site of the Bratslav branch of Hasidism: it is there that Rabbi Nahman of Bratslav (1772–1810) rests, whose tomb draws tens of thousands of Hasidic pilgrims from around the world each year at Rosh Hashanah. The Jewish community of Uman was also the scene of deadly pogroms in 1768 and 1919, and was decimated during the Shoah.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
