Speyer is one of the three cities of the Shum — along with Worms and Mainz — that formed the crucible of medieval Ashkenazic Judaism. Its Jewish community, established as early as the tenth century, produced important rabbinical scholars; its medieval mikveh is one of the best preserved in Europe.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
