Nemirov (Nemyriv) is a shtetl in Podolia that served as the seat of a Hasidic court and a Jewish cultural center. In 1648, the town was the scene of a large-scale massacre perpetrated by the Cossacks of Khmelnytsky, one of the most deadly of that period. After its reconstruction, the Jewish community experienced a Hasidic revival before being annihilated during the Holocaust.
