A Catalan city with a Call (Jewish quarter) among the best preserved in Europe, Gérone was a major center of medieval Spanish Kabbalah. The rabbi Nahmanides (Moses ben Nahman, 1194–1270) was born and taught there before being compelled into exile following the Barcelona disputation of 1263. The Centre Bonastruc ça Porta (museum of Jewish history) today occupies the site of the medieval synagogue.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
