Chendamangalam (Kerala) was home to one of the synagogues of the Malabar Jews of Cochin, whose origins date back to the 16th century. The local community, integrated into village life, gradually declined throughout the 20th century as its members emigrated to Israel, leaving the synagogue nearly deserted.
