History register · custodian, not owner
Founded in Lunéville in 1788 and later transferred to Metz, this yeshiva was one of the first institutions of high-level Talmudic study in France under the Ancien Régime and during the Revolutionary period. It trained rabbinic decisors active in the Ashkenazic communities of Alsace-Lorraine and helped maintain the tradition of intensive study (lomdus) in western France during a period of profound communal upheaval.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
