Principal congregational organization of Conservative Judaism in North America, founded in 1913 at the Jewish Theological Seminary by Rabbi Solomon Schechter under the name United Synagogue of America. Renamed United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism in 1991, it federates several hundred communities.
