Private Jewish university founded in New York in 1970–1971 by Rabbi Bernard Lander, named in honor of Isaac and Judah Touro. Devoted to transmitting and perpetuating the Jewish heritage, it has become a vast university system (renamed Touro University in 2022) covering arts, sciences and medicine.
