Major art museum in Israel, founded in 1932 in the former residence of Tel-Aviv's first mayor, Meir Dizengoff, who donated it. On 14 May 1948, Israel's Declaration of Independence was signed there. The museum relocated in 1971 to Shaul Hamelech Boulevard; it houses a rich collection of modern and Israeli art.
