בית המדרש לרבנים בווינה
Region: Vienne, Autriche
History register · custodian, not owner
Founded in Vienna in 1893, this modern neo-Orthodox institution trained the great majority of rabbis in the Austro-Hungarian Empire and its successor states. It reconciled traditional talmudic studies with Jewish scholarship (Wissenschaft des Judentums). Adolph Schwarz was its first director; Adolf Büchler succeeded him. Forcibly closed in 1938 following the Anschluss.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
