This department of the Rendsburg municipal museum (Schleswig-Holstein) presents the history of the Jewish community of the city, one of the most important in northern Germany in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. It is housed in the former synagogue of 1844, saved from destruction in 1938. The collections illustrate the daily life, religious practices, and civic integration of the Jews of Holstein, as well as their fate under Nazism.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
