History register · custodian, not owner
Adjoining the Paradesi synagogue of Kochi (1568), the only Jewish place of worship still active in India, this small museum traces the history of the Cochin Jews, one of the oldest Jewish communities in India. It presents copper plates dating from tolerance agreements granted by local kings, liturgical objects of local influence, and testimonies on the mass emigration to Israel after 1948. The synagogue and its museum are listed within the architectural heritage of the State of Kerala.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
