A forested site on the outskirts of Vilnius where approximately 70,000 Jews were massacred between 1941 and 1944 by the German Einsatzgruppen and their Lithuanian auxiliaries — one of the largest mass extermination sites on European soil. A renovated visitor center, opened in 2018, presents photographic archives and the findings of recent archaeological excavations. This site constitutes the central Memory of the annihilation of Lithuanian Jewry.
