A memorial center established in 1983 on the very site of the former Dutch transit camp of Westerbork, from which more than 100,000 Jews, Sinti, and Roma — including Anne Frank — were deported to the extermination camps between 1942 and 1944. Its collections comprise more than 11,000 items: archives, filmed testimonies, and period photographs, including the celebrated footage filmed by a detainee in 1944. The site preserves several original camp structures.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
