History register · custodian, not owner
The Gennadius Library, founded in 1926 by the American School of Classical Studies in Athens, holds Hebrew and Judeo-Greek documents relating to Jewish communities in Greece, notably Salonika, Ioannina and Rhodes. It contains liturgical manuscripts, responsa from Greek rabbis, and commercial archives of Ottoman Jewish families. This collection is essential for the history of the Romaniotes and the Sephardim of Greece. It complements the Jewish Museum of Greece and is partially accessible to researchers.
This Great Book does not yet have published chapters. The chapters — each bearing its register, its epistemic status and its sources — will be added as editorial enrichment and assisted generation progress.
